Los Angeles (LAX) via Mexico City or Houston to Merida, (about 6 hours) . Local flights from Cancun and Cozumel (about 1 hour). From Cozumel and Cancun there are express bus services to Merida ($36), about 4 hours travel. Highways are good. Local taxis and buses service Progreso and Chicxulub from Merida. Taxis also available in Chicxulub (1 mile to Castillo Nicte-Ha). Car rentals available at Merida airport and taxis (about $65) Progreso is located in the Northwest corner of the Yucatan Peninsula on the Gulf of Mexico. The Villa is 40 minutes drive North from Merida airport. Chicxulub is 10 kilometers (7 miles) east of Progreso from the Merida airport: At it’s only EXIT, turn left at the airport exit traffic light. After about ½ mile, take the on-ramp, right, onto the “Periferico” east. (Note, the Periferico is an outer ring road around Merida). </div> <bR> <div> After approximately 12 kilometers on the Periferico, follow the signs to, and exit north, towards the town of PROGRESO. Proceed to PROGRESO on this straight highway for about 20 kilometers (15 miles). </div> <div> After crossing a low concrete bridge over water, you will be on the outskirts of PROGRESO.</div> <bR> <div> Turn right immediately after the bridge. Road sign indicates 10 Km to CHICXULUB.  Travel 11 kilometers after turning right at the bridge, until you see overhead flashing yellow lights, indicating a concrete police station building on the right. Located at the 3rd dirt road on the left, past the flashing lights, there will be an unlit turquoise colored, rectangular, 5 foot high concrete sign on the left side of the (2) lane highway. This colored concrete block sign has “CASTILLO NICTE HA” impressed in it. ( The police building is usually illuminated with a fluorescent light at night, and it is the only bright light and building on the right side of the road 11Km beyond the bridge, heading towards Chicxulub.)</div> <bR> <div> <B>NOTE!</B><FONT SIZE="3" COLOR="#000000" FACE="Arial" >  There is also an adjacent and similar concrete block sign that reads “MONKEES”, with a painted monkey face figure on it. Turn left at these signs on to a sandy lane.  Proceed about 300 yards. Castillo Nicte Ha is the tallest and only white three story building visible on the left. It is one house over on the left.  The care-takers residence is at the rear of the house. They will have keys for you. If you drove, or making your own way by taxi, I will forward information to access the key box. Arrangement can also be made to meet your party and transfer keys at the Merida Airport.</FONT></div> <bR> <div> Airport taxis are about $65 for 4 persons. Taxis in Chicxulub back TO the airport, are less. Hertz, Avis car rentals etc, can arrange for delivery of vehicles to the airport, awaiting your arrival. For a local service fee of $50 ( 550 pesos)per vehicle (4 persons), WE can arrange for a representative and driver to meet you at the airport to take, guide or assist you to get to Castillo Nicte Ha (a 40 minute drive). Additional vehicles will be required to transfer groups over 4 persons. Please pay the driver when picked up. </div> <bR> <div> Please inquire to request pickup.
